DOLE and OSHC train emergency workers in Surigao del Sur for free

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Caraga Extension Unit is training beneficiaries of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) today, October 18, 2016 at the Villa Luisa Hotel in Surigao del Sur.
Some 73 DILEEP beneficiaries participated in the free occupational safety and health orientation which aims to enable workers to understand the importance of OSH and know how to deal with the hazards and risks present in their workplaces.
The OSH orientation features lectures and discussions on the basics of safety and health, the common hazards present in small-scale and backyard enterprises such as materials handling and storage, poor housekeeping, use of sharps and other equipment, exposure to dust and other contaminants, inadequate ventilation and illumination, heat stress, and musculoskeletal disorders. Participants to this training are also given information on reproductive health, diseases such as HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and Hepatitis B.
