DOLE-OSHC conducts WEM and Chemical Safety Training for LLCOs

“We want our Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCOs) to be well equipped and trained sonthey can perform their tasks more efficiently,” said Occupational Safey and Health Center (OSHC) Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, today.


Some 70 LLCOs participated in the Chemical Safety Training being conducted today at the OSHC main office today. The training features lectures on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals which is required to be implemented in all companies handling chemicals in the countyr uder the DOLE Department Order 136-144. This includes the mandatory provisions for storing and labeling chemicals as well as the essential elements in a chemical safety program.


Another training will be held tomorrow on Work Environment Measurement (WEM). The LLCOs will ba taught how to identify health hazards and how to evaluate and control problems with illumination, noise gasses and ventilation. The provisions of DOLE Department Order 160, series of 2016 on the accreditation of WEM service providers and other related issuances will also be discussed.
