DOLE, OSHC and OSHNET XI hold 6th Mindanao Occupational Safety and Health Summit

I commend the Occupational Safety and Health Network XI for spearheading the 6th Mindanao Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) Summit. As ever, Mindanao has proven to be very active and efficient in implementing safety and health programs in various industries, some of which will be showcased in this two-day event,” said Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III today, during the opening of the 6th MOSH at the D’Leonor Inland Resort and Adventure Park Davao City.

Occupational safety and health (OSH) advocates from various industries as well as OSH experts from all over the country are expected to attend the Summit to share best OSH practices, researches, innovations and strategies to address the emerging workplace hazards faced by Filipino workers.

Anchored on the theme, “Managing work-related stress for a healthier and safer workplace”, this Summit underscores the importance of understanding workplace stress and its adverse implications on the health and well-being of workers.

Work-related stress usually results when the knowledge and abilities of workers are inadequate to meet the demands of their jobs and the organizational culture of the enterprise they work in. When stress continues for a long time, it exacts a very high toll on the health of workers and is actually one of the top causes of absenteeism and low performance.

The two-day summit will also feature discussions on HR strategies to promote OSH, ergonomics, emergency response, climate change, and various aspects of OSH in the mining and construction industries and best OSH practices of notable establishments.
