OSHC REU 9 conducts OSH Orientation for 1,328 farmers


Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – Some 300 El Niño-affected farmers from Labangan, Salug, Dipolo and Sibuguey benefit from the first round of a series of occupational safety and health orientations which begins today July 4, 2016.


OSH orientations will also be held in Molave on July 5, Dumingag on July 6, and Bayog Zamboanga del Sur on July 11 for a total of 1,328 farmers to inform them of the safety and health hazards they might encounter during their deployment in the 10-day emergency employment under the DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuay sa ating Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.


Ms. Ma. Joy Reneeli Espinosa, OSHC- REU IX focal person will be joining the DOLE team in going around the above menetioned municipalities to discuss hazards and risks such as working in hot environments, materials handling, and sharps injuries, as well as how to handle them safely.


The OSH orientation is being conducted in cooperation with the DOLE Region IX and National Irrigation Administration.
