Best OSH practices and compliance to OSH standards top bill the 15th National Occupational Safety an
Safety and health experts from award winning companies, professional groups, occupational safety and health networks (OSHNets), and workers’ unions as well as government authorities will be sharing their researches and strategies on improving worker protection in the 15th National Occupational Safety and Health (NOSH) Congress today.
With the theme “Sustaining Decent Work through Occupational Safety and Health” the 15th NOSH Congress underscores the importance of safety and health as a core element of decent work.
“Decent work sums up all the aspirations of all workers and the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to make that dream attainable for all Filipino workers. The DOLE will do its share to achieve this overall vision for our workers and their families, as well as for employers. Our basic mandate as an institution is very clear: to promote employment and human resource development; to ensure workers’ protection and welfare; and to promote a sound, stable, and dynamic industrial peace as a shared responsibility of our social partners”, said DOLE Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad III.
More than 1,000 participants are expected to attend this two-day event. There will be three plenary sessions that will feature Osh and decent work, social protection for the informal sector, and strategies to address the gaps on OSH for contractual workers. A wide range of topics from best OSH practices of GKK winners, updates on OSH standards and related regulations, working conditions in various industries, OSH implementation, to new OSH schemes and emergency and disaster preparedness will be discussed in 10 simultaneous sessions.

The NOSH Congress is a biennial activity spearheaded by the OSHC, an attached agency of the DOLE. Beginning in 1990, it has since served as a means to generate and exchange essential information on work safety and health.
