DOLE-OSHC and OSHNets train 805 new safety officers on mandatory OSH courses

A total of 805 workers from 432 companies benefitted from the 40-hour, mandatory Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Trainings and Construction Safety Trainings (CST) conducted by the OSHC, in cooperation with the Occupational Safety and Health Networks at the OSHC main office in Quezon City, Bohol, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro City, Davao, Dumaguete City, Iloilo this March.

“As of March, we have already trained a total of 1,995 safety officers from 1,413 companies and we will be training more to achieve the goal set by Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz to train 25,000 safety officers. We are grateful for our dedicated partners, the OSHNETS for helping us reach more workers in the regions,” said OSHC Executive Director Ms. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III.

The BOSH Training and CST feature lectures, workshops and site visits to give participants sufficient knowledge on the many aspects of safety and health in the workplace. Over the years, customized BOSH training courses have been developed for specific industries such as IT-BPO, maritime, mining and bus transport industries.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Standards, this is mandatory for all safety officers, a sufficient number of which is required for all establishments depending on the number of their workers.
