DOLE-OSHC trains new OSH trainers in Mindanao

“We now have a bigger pool of resource speakers here in Mindanao and it will now be much easier to facilitate OSH trainings in this area,” said OSHC Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III, today, March 26, 2015.

A total of 24 newly trained resource speakers from Occupational Safety and Health Networks (OSHNETs) and DOLE regional offices participated in the three-day Mindanao-wide Training of Trainers (TOT) on Occupational Safety and Health held on March 24-26, 2015 at the T’Boli Hotel in General Santos City.

The said TOT features discussions and workshops on the importance of OSH, basic training concepts, development of a training program and presentation skills as well as a hands-on teaching experience.

Many of the participants enjoyed the training and have given positive feedback to the OSHC Training Team – “I am grateful for this unique experience. I have learned a lot especially on how to handle questions from participants on various OSH concerns. “This training helped me overcome my fears of standing in front of an audience which cannot be avoided because I am tasked to train people on OSH.”

The TOT is offered to professionals who have completed the mandatory OSH trainings – the Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training and Construction Safety Training.
