DOLE-OSHC conducts fire safety trainings in Caraga
Butuan City – the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Regional Extension Unit XIII, in collaboration with the DOLE Regional Office XIII and the Bureau of Fire Protection Butuan conducted a series of OSH Orientations and Fire Safety Training in Caraga Region.
“Fire safety is very important as the accident of fire is not confined to Mach only. It can happen all year round, thus we are continuously reminding everybod how to prevent fires and what to do in case it des break out, “ said OSHC Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco.
A total of 228 workers from 166 companies attended the three batches of OSH orientation with lectures from BFP experts at the Villa Maria Luisa Hotel , Paseo de San Francisco Hotel, Agusan del Sur on and at the Butuan LGU. A three day Fire Safety Training was also held at the Balanghai Hotel in Butuan City.
The said training and orientations aimed to upgrade the capabilities of company fire brigade and safety and health committee members in implementing workplace fire prevention and safety and health programs. These are both required under the new Fire Code of the Philippines and the Occupational Safety and Health Standards.
“This is part of the action plan of OSHC to strengthen the information campaign ad to conduct trainings on OSH and fire safety,” said Engr. Christian Jaguit of OSHC REU XIII.
