DOLE-OSHC trains 196 workers on OSH in CARAGA

A total of 196 workers from 159 companies benefitted from four OSH trainings conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Center Regional Extension Unit XIII (OSHC REU XIII) and the Occupational Safety and Health Network (OSHNet) CARAGA in August.

This includes 32 participants who attended the Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training held on August 10 to 4, 2015 and 54 participants who underwent 5the Construction Safety Training (CST) held on August 24 to 28, 2015. The BOSH and CST are the 40-hour, mandatory trainings for safety officers required under the Occupational Safety and Health Standards.

“One of the tasks given to us by Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz is to train 75,000 safety officers by the end of 2016. Given our limited resources, we cannot achieve this target alone. We are thus very grateful to our partners – the OSHNets and the DOLE-accredited safety training organizations – for helping us address the huge demand for OSH trainings,” said OSHC Executive Director Ma. Terersita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III.

Some 120 participants also benefitted from the two batches of OSH Orientation conducted by the OSHC in Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands.
