Around 400 safety and health advocates from various industries are expected to attend the 2nd Regional Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Summit (ROSHES) in Cagayan de Oro tomorrow, 08 October 2015, at the Pearlmont Hotel, CDO.

“Region 10 has remained very dynamic in the OSH advocacy just like the rest of Mindanao. This is the first region to have its own regional summit, which brought valuable learnings closer to the workers of Region 10,” said OSHC Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III.

With the theme “Facing the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) Challenges: Gearing Toward ASEAN Integration”, the two-day summit will feature three plenary sessions with discussions on the challenges and issues on the ASEAN Integration, strategies on occupational safety, health and environment, emergency management, update and accomplishments on the labor Laws Compliance System, public safety and employee welfare.

“By year end we will have an integrated ASEAN community and we have to boost the quality and sustainability of our labor force, goods, and services and this summit is an opportune event for us to discuss our plans and strategies. All this of course will include our new approaches to ensure that our workplaces and workers are well protected from accidents and illnesses,” added Cucueco.

Resolutions on workplace safety, health, and environment will be presented by DOLE Undersecretary Rebecca G. Chato, DOLE Regional Office X Director Raymund Agravante, OSHC Deputy Executive Director Jose Maria S. Batino, OSHNet-Mindanao President Edda Lydia Valdehuesa, and OSHNet 10 President Teodoro V. Cahoy.
