DOLE-OSHC orients Lando survivors on safety and health

In cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment Cagayan Field office, and Tuguegarao Local government Office, the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Regional Extension Unit II conducted a safety orientation for Lando survivors who are beneficiaries of the DOLE’s Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD).


“There are so many hazards in a post-disaster environment and we do not want the emergency workers to have accidents or contract illnesses, especially as they have just been thro0ugh the nightmare of the typhoon. The OSHC is continuously developing the training program on OSH in clean-up operations and we are glad to be able to help these workers,” said OSHC Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III.


The beneficiaries are displaced tobacco farmers from branagays Libag Sur, Libag Norte, Gosi Sur, and Gosi norte of Cagayan province. Under the TUPAD Program, they will be working for 20 days in designated areas to declog canals, improve communal gardens and remove debris.


The workers were also given long sleeved shirts to protect them from the heat of the sun.
