DOLE-OSHC maintains ISO Certification

“It had been a challenge but we are happy to have maintained the certification for all the processes we enrolled for the ISO 9001:2008 last year,” said Occupational Safety and Health Center Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco.

After the audit conducted last November 16, 2015, the OSHC ISO 9001:2008 certified for five major processes: in-house Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training, information dissemination, occupational safety and health audit, conduct of work environment measurement (excluding laboratory analysis), and biological monitoring for heavy metals. These also include support processes such as human resource, purchasing, billing, repair and maintenance of IT equipment, security, and general services.

“We are grateful to TUV Rheinland for helping us understand our areas for improvement to help make our processes more efficient and client-centered. Our current processes have already enhanced our service delivery and integrating the recoomednations of TUV Rheinland would surely raise our standards of serving the workers,” said Cucueco.

The certification of OSHC for the abovementioned processes is valid until Deecmber 2016. It is part of the DOLE’s efforts to have all of its offices certified. The ISO 9001: 2008 is an international standard that requires organizations to have an established quality management system that will facilitate the organization’s delivery of services and enhance customer satisfaction. More than uniformity, it helps companies ensure their achievement of their objectives and provides a system for both corrective and preventive action.
