“OSH awareness and initiatives are on the rise” - OSHC

“We are glad to see the increasing number of private sector enterprise initiatives on compliance to the OSH standards,” said Occupational Safety and Health Center Executive Director Ma. Teresita Cucueco. “A good example for this is the rise in the number of companies sending representatives from all their branches to participate in the OSH trainings. For instance, the Access Computer and Technical Colleges sent 28 employees from 13 of its branches to take the classroom type Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training in November and December.”

“We are also bent on improving the e-BOSH on-line BOSH to cater to the training needs of those who cannot leave their work to attend to our classroom discussions,” added Cucueco”

There is an upsurge in the number of e-BOSH participants in the recent weeks. As of press time, there are about 415 enrolled participants from Metro Bank alone.

“Other private companies and government agencies have also done the same. This means more work for us but we are happy because we know that more and more Filipino workers are going to have safer and healthier lives,” said Cucueco.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Standards, a sufficient number of safety officers, who have finished the BOSH Training or Construction Safety Training (for workers in the construction industry), must be employed by all establishments. The number of safety officers depends on the number of workers for every shift.
