More than 120,000 workers benefit from OSHC services in 2015

A total of 124,942 workers benefitted from OSHC services this year. This includes those who benefitted from the OSHC technical services as well as the 20,025 participants in the mandatory and specialized OSH trainings conducted jointly with the Occupational Safety and Health Networks throughout the country.


Some 104,578 workers from 218 companies benefitted from the Work Environment Measurement (WEM). The WEM is conducted to determine the concentration of various workplace hazards such as chemicals, dust, inadequate illumination, extreme temperature, and noise and identify appropriate solutions to ensure worker safety and health. Occupational health services such as blood testing for heavy metals, biologic monitoring and medical examinations benefitted 148 workers from five companies while 53 consultants and 21 safety training organizations were accredited.


The OSHC also conducted 2,087 tests on 947 specimens of personal protective equipment and assessed 138 applicants for the scaffold erection competency. Researches are also being conducted on OSH for contractors and sub-contractors of supermalls and super markets in the National Capital Region, needle stick and sharps injuries among level 3 hospitals in NCR, OSH in the public sector.
