More than 50 participants from 28 companies benefitted from the Occupational Safety and Health Orientation conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Center Regional Extension Unit (OSHC REU) 5 during the Labor Management Forum last January 21, 2016 at the Rhaj Apartelle and Executive Inn, Gogon, Virac, Catanduanes.
Mr. Mark James Andayog of OSHC REU 5 discussed the health and safety risks associated with occupational hazards. The participants were encouraged to strengthen Occupational Health and Safety Committee through the conduct of monthly safety meetings, development of an accident prevention program and provision of OSH trainings for staff. Mr. Andayog stressed that employee involvement, strong leadership and commitment from all levels of management are essential for the improvement of the workplace safety culture.
The OSH orientation aims to spread the word about preventing accidents and illness and assist the management to take proactive actions in order to achieve excellence in managing safety and health at the workplace.
END/MJ Andayog
