“The culture of safety and health is better ingrained in young minds and we are working on providing basic knowledge on OSH to college students before they even enter the world of work. That way, they will be better equipped to do what is right in terms of safeguarding the welfare of their colleagues when the time comes for them to be part of the workforce,” said OSHC Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III today, February 8, 2016, during the OSH Orientation for engineering students.
A total of 40 students from the Romblon State University attended the orientation which is part of their exposure and educational trip. The orientation included discussions on unsafe acts and conditions, good housekeeping, types of hazards and ways of mitigating them as well as a tour around the OSHC facilities such as the Personal Protective Equipment Testing, Ventilation, Respiratory Equipment and Diagnostic Laboratories.
Schools who are interested in availing of this orientation may coordinate with the Training and Public Information Division of the Occupational Safety and Health Center at telephone numbers 924-2414 or 9270926.
