“Construction, agriculture and manufacturing are among the most hazardous industries. These three sectors also employ a significant number of youth workers, which is one of the most underserved sectors in the labor force. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III.

Beginning April 2016, the OSHC together with the Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC), Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, Philippine Statistics Authority and the Employers’ Confederation of the Philippines will be collaborating with ILO on a number of phases of the Safe and Healthy Youth Project. The project aims to improve the occupational safety and health of workers aged 18 to 24 through a combination of strategies.

The project will provide technical assistance in data collection and management, facilitate policy and regulatory review and development, and establish capacity building programs for institutions and social partners.
