DOLE-OSHC trains 736 new safety officers on mandatory OSH trainings
A total of 736 new safety officers from 430 companies attended nine batches of the Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training and five Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Training held by the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), in cooperation with the Occupational Safety and Health Networks (OSHNets).
“Under the directive of Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, we are intensifying the conduct of OSH trainigs to respond to the need an exponentially increasing number of workers. The demand for the mandatory OSH trainings continues to rise and we are thankful to our partners – the OSHNets who are helping us reach more workers in all the regions” said OSHC Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco, MD, CESO III.
The BOSH and COSH Trainings are the 40-hour mandatory trainings for safety officers. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Standards, a sufficient number of safety officers, who have finished the BOSH or COSH Training, must be employed by all establishments. The number of safety officers depends on the number of workers for every shift. The e-BOSH on the other hand, may be taken by workers who are too busy to take five days off from work at their own pace for a maximum period of three months.
